There's other people in this thread that said if if speculatively did the thing is actually used to do it would be bad. OP asked for a reason people might not like Gameguard and that is definitely a thing that would bother people about it.

As far as I am aware that exploit has been fixed, but honestly when a company screws up to the tune of "our video game software exposed kernel-level access for viruses" there's absolutely no way to recover its PR.Įdit: why is this negative? It's objectively true that Gameguard used to expose your kernel to arbitrary applications whthout validating legitimacy. So instead of just auto-reassigning my binds to functional inputs when I enter PSO2's game window I have to toggle an AHK script on and remember to turn it off while I am tabbed out of the game or after I close it.Īs for security concerns, Gameguard is a kernel-level access anti-cheat, and older versions of it did have a privilege escalation bug that could be exploited to allow malicious code to run with Administrator authority.
Gameguard is a pain in the ass because PSO2 doesn't support any of my mouse buttons past the first three, but it also blocks my rebind software that makes it function with the game.
